Investment Climate Summit 2012

The theme for this year’s Summit was “Creating an enabling environment for Africa’s NOW generation”.
The ICF hosted its second Investment Climate Summit in Arusha, Tanzania between the 28th and 30th of May 2012. The theme for this year’s Summit was “Creating an enabling environment for Africa’s NOW generation”.
The Summit took place over three days. The first two days were devoted to practical and live demonstrations of projects by respective countries. They showcased the results of ICF’s approach that entails working in close partnership with the private sector and client governments. Participants had the opportunity to interact with the project leaders, saw first-hand the live demonstrations, and exchanged information.
The third day was devoted to plenary sessions which focused on:
- Starting up a Business: registration, permits, job creation
- Growing a Business: customs and tax administration, trade facilitation, regional integration
- Thriving in Business: property rights, contract enforcement, piracy and counterfeits, knowledge sharing
- Building the Future: The Africa success story, investor confidence, sustained economic prosperity
Over 200 people attended the plenary sessions which were interactive and lively. Panelists and participants explored various ways to create an enabling environment for Africa's now generation through tackling obstacles in the investment climate.
