Tunis Stock Exchange to promote use of the capital market.
November 05, 2012
On 28th September 2012, The Tunisia Stock Exchange launched its capacity building and awareness raising project which is co-funded by the Investment Climate Facility for Africa.
The main objective of the project is to enhance the ability of the public, investors and traders to effectively use the capital market.
At the launch, Mr. Mohamed BICHIOU, CEO of the Tunisia Stock Exchange explained that the project will use a new generation of on-line training and learning materials through a LMS (Learning Management System) portal which will offer several interactive tools including stock exchange simulations.
The project will increase the training capacity of the Tunisian Stock Market Training Institute to train and certify stock market professionals and develop their activities. It will also help develop brokerage-related services, promote stock market literacy, and raise awareness of the benefits of the stock market to potential investors.
This initiative will broaden the investor base and encourage more enterprises, especially small and medium ones, to get listed on the Tunis Stock Exchange so that they can use the capital market as an alternate source of funding.
During the launch, Omari Issa, CEO of ICF stated that apart from having a significant impact on the development of the Stock Exchange, the project will also elevate the Tunisia Stock Exchange to a regional platform where it will be training and fostering knowledge sharing among stock exchanges of French Speaking countries in West Africa.
The project is the first ICF intervention in Tunisia and North Africa.
